The Leaves of Absence Certification Training Program: Mastering the Rules, in five 90-minute sessions, aims at helping even the most seasoned HR master the many of the complexities of leaves of absence in order to better protect your organization from potential legal liability. Each session focuses on key leave of absence rules where you may be exposing your employer to unwanted employee-related risks.

If you are unable to attend any of the live sessions on the days that have been scheduled you may utilize the equivalent download(s). You may begin the program with any of the scheduled live webinars via download for any or all sessions. Upon completion of all sessions you may request a final exam. Upon passing the final exam you will have earned the designation of Certified Leave of Absence Manager (CLAM) by HRWebAdvisor, a division of CareerLearning. To help demonstrate your professional training, content mastery, and advancement in the HR sector, we will send you a certificate for display.
The cost for the program is $1495. Registration includes all 5 sessions, downloads, all course materials and tests. There is a second year continuing education certification requirement which includes attendance at two additional webinars or listening to the equivalent downloads. Recertification in the third year is required in order to maintain certification, and the costs for recertification and will be billed separately prior to the start of your third year.

Session 2: ADA Reasonable Accommodations and Interactive Process
This session will cover one of the most frequently misunderstood (and tricky) obligations HR has: engaging in the “interactive process” with an employee who requests a “reasonable accommodation” under the ADA. Understanding the many types of “reasonable accommodations” that an employee may request, how to properly respond, and how to correctly document the process are essential to ensure legal compliance with the ADA and avoid potential legal liability.

These laws themselves are complicated and legalistic but more importantly can often be difficult to apply and even more confusing when workers’ compensation is involved.
- What is a “serious health condition” under the FMLA?
- Whether the request for a longer leave of absence after exhaustion of FMLA leave constitutes a request for a reasonable accommodation
- A better understanding of state workers’ compensation laws
- Whether workers’ comp entitles the employee to a leave of absence or just compensation for the injury
- The important definitions under the ADA/ADAAA
- Whether an employee can be out on leave under the FMLA or ADA and also be covered by workers’ compensation
- Understanding how these three laws intersect and what are an HR professional’s responsibilities under these laws
Each session will be followed by a 15-20 minute Q&A session.

SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS
The Leaves of Absence Certification Training Program: Mastering the Rules consists of five live webinars supplemented by study and reference materials. If you are unable to attend all five live sessions, or you wish to review sessions that you attended, you may utilize the downloads. After completing the five sessions and passing the final certification exam within two months of finishing the course requirements, you will receive your certification from HRWebAdvisor. This will certify that you have successfully completed all of the course requirements, passed the final examination and have been certified by HRWebAdvisor as a Certified Leaves of Absence Manager (CLAM).
Certification is for a two-year period from the date you pass the final exam. You have the option to recertify upon the conclusion of the two-year period. Recertification in the third year is required to maintain certification. Continuing education is required to recertify. This requirement can be fulfilled by attending additional designated webinars or listening to the equivalent downloads. Costs for recertification and continuing education will be billed separately.
