United States multi-national corporations employ significant numbers of employees in Brazil, a leading South American country with which the United States has significant trade relations. Despite being hemispheric partners, Brazil has employment laws that differ materially from those of the United States. Laws that protect the employment, compensation, benefits, separation and data privacy rights of employees exist in Brazil but are nonexistent in the U.S. U.S. employers and their counsel must have an understanding of these differences. There are unique issues, particularly constitutional protections, and other right-to-work legislation that make compliance obligations unique in terms of understanding an employer’s regulatory obligations. This program will highlight in the areas of employment contracts, terminations, separations, and collective bargaining. Employers doing business or planning to do business in Brazil should become knowledgeable about this country’s generally employee-friendly employment and benefits laws.

Please join William D. Wright as he focuses on many of the employment and labor laws of Brazil that U.S. and other multi-national employers interested in hiring employees in Brazil, or placing employees in that country, should understand in order to best comply with the laws and leverage their business opportunities, including fundamentals of Brazil’s employment laws and hot issues.
